Dr Guido earned BSc degrees in Computer Science and in Computer Engineering from São Paulo State University (UNESP) at São José do Rio Preto - Brazil in 1998, and Educational Foundation at Votuporanga (FEV) - Brazil in 2003 respectively. He received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Campinas State University (UNICAMP) - Brazil in 2000, and his PhD degree in Computational Applied Physics from University of São Paulo (USP) at São Carlos - Brazil in 2003.

His academic degrees have all been focused on the area of signal processing. In addition, he has completed two post-doctoral programs in signal processing at USP, from 2003 to 2007, and obtained the title of Associate Professor (Livre-Docência) in signal processing from the School of Engineering at São Carlos - Brazil (USP) in 2008. He has taught signal processing since 1999 and has published many scientific articles in IEEE and Elsevier journals and magazines, complemented by papers in international and national conferences.

He has served as a member of the editorial board of respected IEEE, Elsevier and World Scientific journals and, additionally, as a guest-editor and as a reviewer for IEEE and Elsevier journals and as organizer and chairman for IEEE conferences. He received several grants and awards from the State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), from National Council of Research and Development (CNpQ) and from Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC), all in Brazil. He has also supervised many theses in his field and is a senior member of the IEEE. Currently, he is a professor at UNESP in São José do Rio Preto - Brazil.
